Eine ältere (10.2.2010) Stellungnahme von Kerstin Müller, Außenpolitische Sprecherin Bündnis 90/Die Grünen:

Der Goldstone-Bericht hat zu Recht beide Seiten konkreter Verstöße gegen das internationale Kriegsrecht bezichtigt. Wir verurteilen sowohl den völkerrechtswidrigen Beschuss durch Qassam-Raketen aus dem Gazastreifen wie auch die Verletzungen des humanitären Völkerrechts durch Israel. Wir bedauern, dass die Bundesregierung dem Bericht in der UN-Generalversammlung nicht zugestimmt hat.

Eine weitere ältere (24.2.2011) Stellungnahme, diesmal von Annette Groth, Menschenrechtspolitische Sprecherin der Fraktion DIE LINKE:

Die Goldstone-Kommission hat Kriegsverbrechen auf israelischer und palästinensischer Seite dokumentiert. Die Zusammenarbeit mit der Goldstone-Kommission wie auch Untersuchungen dieser Verbrechen durch unabhängige Kommissionen lehnt die israelische Regierung bis heute ab. Nach zweimaliger Fristverlängerung für nationale Untersuchungen muss jetzt die internationale Strafgerichtsbarkeit eingeschaltet werden.

Bei dem israelischen Überfall auf Gaza wurden 850 palästinensische Zivilistinnen und Zivilisten getötet, darunter 350 Kinder und 200 Frauen. Über 5 000 Menschen wurden verletzt. Für Hina Jilani, Mitverfasserin des Goldstone-Berichts, waren die Zeugnisse über das bewusste Zielen auf Kinder das Schlimmste, was sie jemals gehört hat. Frau Jilani war UN-Sonderberichterstatterin in Darfur. Die Kommission untersuchte Vorfälle, bei denen Familien mit weißer Flagge ein Haus verließen und die trotzdem gezielt beschossen wurden. Das ist ein gravierender Verstoß gegen das humanitäre Völkerrecht und gehört bestraft.

Natürlich sah das Europäische Parlament die Sache im März vergangenen Jahres ähnlich:

The European Parliament has backed the findings of a UN-backed report into last year’s Gaza war, which heavily criticised Israel and accused both Tel Aviv and Hamas of war crimes.

The assembly is the second institution after the United Nations to stand in favour of the report, with just over 50 per cent of politicians passing the resolution.

It urged its 27-member states to monitor Israeli and Palestinian probes into war crimes in Gaza, and urged Israel to immediately open its border crossing with the Gaza Strip to alleviate the worsening humanitarian crisis there.

Heute dann hat sich Richter Goldstone in der Washington Post geäußert:

We know a lot more today about what happened in the Gaza war of 2008-09 than we did when I chaired the fact-finding mission appointed by the U.N. Human Rights Council that produced what has come to be known as the Goldstone Report. If I had known then what I know now, the Goldstone Report would have been a different document.

Our report found evidence of potential war crimes and “possibly crimes against humanity” by both Israel and Hamas. That the crimes allegedly committed by Hamas were intentional goes without saying — its rockets were purposefully and indiscriminately aimed at civilian targets.

The allegations of intentionality by Israel were based on the deaths of and injuries to civilians in situations where our fact-finding mission had no evidence on which to draw any other reasonable conclusion. While the investigations published by the Israeli military and recognized in the U.N. committee’s report have established the validity of some incidents that we investigated in cases involving individual soldiers, they also indicate that civilians were not intentionally targeted as a matter of policy.

Jeffrey Goldberg kommentiert kurz und treffend:

This is as shocking as it is unexpected: the South African Jewish judge Richard Goldstone, who excoriated Israel for allegedly committing premeditated crimes against civilians in Gaza — contributing, more than any other individual, to the delegitimization and demonization of the Jewish state — now says, well, Israel didn’t actually set out to target Palestinian civilians, unllike Hamas, whose plainly-apparent goal was to murder Israeli civilians.

Well, I’m glad he’s cleared that up. Unfortunately, it is somewhat difficult to retract a blood libel, once it has been broadcast across the world.
